Insecurities, online culture, and hate-group recruiters: the dark side of the Manosphere. Research led me to techniques used by hate-groups to entice men to join their cause, preying on their identity as “incels” (involuntary celibate). Disillusioned by online chats regarding relationships with women and the perceived stereotype of a successful man, frustration can overwhelm and turn to hate. An example is found in Elliot Rodger, whose act of mass murder in California in 2014 is now idolized by certain incel groups and is refered to as “The Supreme Gentleman”.
